Jacob Sandman, LIMHP
Jacob is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner who works primarily with adolescents, teenagers, and adults. He received his Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He began his career as a therapist during the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic which resulted in the development of counseling skills both in person and through Telehealth. Jacob views Telehealth as a valuable asset for providing high quality mental health care to those in rural communities of Nebraska.
In his therapeutic work, Jacob brings warmth, compassion, and hope to each client. To Jacob, therapy is much more than a therapist providing pragmatic skills. The relationship that develops between the client and therapist is the greatest factor in helping people make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives. Jacob is trained in many areas including working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues.
Jacob works to ensure every person he works with can feel safe, welcome, and validated through the therapeutic process. Jacob is also trained in these therapeutic modalities: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Suicide Prevention; Trauma-Informed Care; Gender Affirming Care; and Mindful Self-Compassion. Jacob is a voracious reader who works constantly to expand his knowledge base to provide his clients with deeper and more meaningful care.
Jacob has conducted trainings in working with the LGBTQ+ community, understanding the lasting effects of trauma on teens and adults, how trauma, anxiety, and depression affect peoples’ functioning and can be managed through therapy. Jacob is available monthly for consultative services and providing training. Jacob also provides grant writing services and consultations.
